Domestic Cleaning

We are entering into the area of weekly, fortnightly and monthly domestic cleaning, not as a new venture, but as a service that will be expanded from our small coverage area of Epsom & Caterham, to encompass our full area of London & the Home Counties

How does it work?

We have a minimum charge of 2 hours, our cleaner will come  along and clean your home to the schedule they we will work out with you. This may include just cleaning or you may add ironing if required.

All we ask is that you supply our cleaner with the basic necessities that she/he will require, in the form of a vacuum cleaner, mop & bucket and some cleaning products.

Rates?

Our rates are £10.50 per hour, (£8 for the cleaner and £2.50 for the agency and insurance cover

Payment?

We ask that you pay the cleaner after each weekly visit, we will then invoice you quarterly for our fee

Why Agency Fees?

For us it is just a method of keeping costs, to you, at a minimum without affecting the service that you get. The  big secret to how we manage to vet, train, insure and monitor our domestic cleaners, to such a high degree, with such a low agency fee, is that the money is going directly into doing that,  not just adminstration. If you paid us, and we paid the cleaner for you, you would be paying:

VAT on top of the amount paid to the cleaner
Cost of the agency running a payroll system
An in depth health and safety policy, as any company employing more than a few people has much greater legal obligations and so on.....

Consequently either the service or amount paid to the cleaner would be lower.

 

Cleaners?

We carefully select and vet our cleaners and require:
Proof of identity (passport/full UK driving licence)
Proof of address (utility bills or bank statement plus home visit)
Immigration status (valid visa + work permit)
Proof of experience and reliability (minimum of 2 references from previous employers or clients)
Test for English  speaking and writing skills
Test on common cleaning tasks

For all new applicants we provide in-house cleaning training making sure all our requirements and standards are met.


FAQ's

What happens if I move house?

House Angels will transfer your account to another address in the London area.

What happens if I do not need the cleaner for a period of time?

No problem, your cleaner will be re-assigned until you require our services again

Can I meet the cleaner first?

Yes, it is always a good idea to meet the cleaner to discuss your priorities with her. House Angels will arrange a meeting with the cleaner at your house at a convenient time to yourself, which can be in the daytime or evening.

Do I have to stay at home when the cleaner comes to me?

No, the cleaners are all  stringently vetted and experienced so that you can leave them alone to clean your home.

Will House Angels be able to provide me with a temporary cleaner if my regular cleaner is off sick or on holiday?

Yes, House Angels will always contact you to arrange temporary cover should your regular cleaner let us know that she is unable to come to you for any reason.

Alarm Codes?

Most cleaners are familiar with alarms. From a security point of view you need to decide whether you are happy to give your cleaner your code and then explain the procedure to her carefully.

House Keys?

For most householders find that there is no other way of allowing the cleaner into their home other than to give her a set of keys. Our  cleaners are well vetted by our agency for this reason and are instructed,  to keep all keys separate from the addresses of clients. If the idea of giving your cleaner keys is too worrying then we can arrange for a cleaner to come at any time when you are able to let her in, this could be early in the mornings,  or in the evenings.

Communication?

The agency will always be able to communicate any messages to your cleaner but you may want to give a specific phone number to your cleaner so that she is able to call you directly in case of any problems out of office hours.

What if I decide to change my cleaner?

If you believe that the cleaner is cheating on the hours worked or you find that your cleaner is not staying for the full hours, then you should either revise the amount of hours agreed between you and the cleaner or inform her of what extra tasks she should be accomplishing once she has done the bulk of the cleaning and ironing. If any problems persist then we will deal with the matter for you.

What if the cleaners standard of work is deteriorating?

Once you come home and start looking for what your cleaner has not done rather that what she has done then it is time to take action and either speak to the cleaner directly or contact the agency and we will talk to him/her on your behalf. Often a cleaner does not realise that the standard of  work has slipped and a discrete word from the agency will be enough to re-establish the previous high standard of the work. Of course, should this not happen or if you would rather not persist with your existing cleaner then the agency will find you a replacement cleaner straight away.

If the cleaner becomes unreliable?

The agency will always be able to find you a temporary replacement should your cleaner be unable to come to you on any occasion. However, if you feel that your cleaner is becoming generally unreliable in not informing you, or the agency, if there is  a problem with attendance at your home then you should inform the agency straight away so that we can find you someone else more consistent and respectful of your requirements.
